Stop Searching for Signs: Trusting Yourself Over Tarot Scrolling
Introduction
The other night, I woke up abruptly to a little boy standing over me. I was startled, but there wasn’t a heavy energy—more like he just appeared, and then I went back to sleep. By morning, I immediately reached for my tarot deck, looking for answers. Who was he? What did he want? Why was he there?
The reading revealed that he was tied to my family lineage and that he comes and goes as he pleases. He wasn’t there to scare me—he was there with a message. A reminder that I need to let go of resistance. That I’ve been refusing to fully surrender to the massive shift happening in my life. And the one that really hit home? I’ve been looking for external validation instead of trusting myself.
Oof. That was a gut punch. I thought I was surrendering, being intentional, and making grounded decisions. But if I was being honest, I was struggling to let go. My tarot deck had become my security blanket, giving me every answer because I was too afraid to trust my own instincts. I didn’t want to make the wrong move. I didn’t want to get hurt again. But in the process, I was making myself small, insecure, and completely disconnected from the natural flow of life.
So, how do we stay spiritually connected without over-consuming tarot or external guidance? How do we shift from needing constant confirmation to fully trusting ourselves? Let’s talk about it.
Are You Seeking Guidance or Avoiding Your Own Power?
Relying on tarot, signs, or other people’s opinions isn’t necessarily bad—but when we start depending on them for every decision, we lose touch with our inner wisdom. Here are some signs you might be caught in the cycle of external validation:
You feel uneasy making a decision without pulling a card.
You pull multiple clarifiers until you get an answer you feel "safe" with.
You keep searching for signs when deep down, you already know what to do.
You feel stuck—like you’re waiting for permission to move forward instead of just going for it.
In my case, my tarot spread called me all the way out:
1. What am I currently resisting letting go of? – The Star I wasn’t fully trusting in hope or divine timing. The Star is about healing, faith, and renewal, but my constant need for reassurance showed that I wasn’t truly believing I was on the right path.
2. How is this resistance affecting me? – The Hanged Man Reversed Instead of surrendering to the flow, I was keeping myself stuck. I wasn’t moving forward because I was waiting for tarot (or some grand cosmic sign) to tell me it was safe.
3. How can I fully surrender and trust the process? – Seven of Swords Reversed I needed to be radically honest with myself. Was I actually letting go? Or was I just trying to control my uncertainty by constantly pulling cards? The truth was clear—I needed to start trusting myself and acting instead of endlessly searching for answers.
4. What lesson was the little boy trying to teach me? – Ten of Swords Reversed Healing is happening, and the worst is behind me. I don’t need to keep looking for proof that things are getting better—they already are.
5. How can I stay spiritually connected without over-consuming tarot? – The Hierophant Reversed This card told me to break the rules—to let go of structured spiritual practices that were keeping me dependent on guidance instead of trusting my own wisdom.
How I Can Help You Trust Yourself Again
This is exactly what I help women do—break the cycle of external validation and rebuild self-trust. Through my tarot-infused journaling workbooks, my confidence-building exercises, and my guided insights, I show you how to use tarot as a tool—not a crutch. If you’re struggling with self-doubt, fear of making decisions, or constantly looking for signs to validate your worth, my resources can help you step into your power.
Here’s how:
✨ My Red Flags Workbook helps you uncover why you’re accepting red flags in relationships (and life) and how to start trusting your own intuition again.
✨ My Anxiety Management Workbook combines tarot insights with self-reflection to help you break the habit of overthinking and build confidence in your decision-making.
✨ My Monthly and Weekly Tarot Subscriptions give you structured, intentional tarot guidance without overwhelming you, so you can check in without falling into the trap of over-consumption.
I created these resources because I get what it feels like to doubt yourself, to feel stuck, and to search endlessly for clarity. But the truth is, you already have the clarity within you—you just need the right tools to reconnect with it.
Creating a Spiritual Routine That Strengthens Your Intuition (Without Over-Reliance on Tarot)
If you’re feeling stuck in the cycle of external validation, here’s a simple but powerful shift to help you rebuild trust in yourself:
1. Morning Grounding Ritual (5-10 min)
✅ Breathe deeply (4-second inhale, 4-second hold, 6-second exhale).
✅ Set an intention for the day (Example: “I trust that I am on the right path.”)
✅ If you feel the urge to pull tarot, write down your question instead and come back to it later.
2. Weekly Tarot Check-In (Not Daily)
✅ Pull one card at the start of the week (What energy should I embody this week?)
✅ Reflect without clarifying—just sit with the message.
✅ If you feel the urge to pull more cards or scroll tarot readings online, remind yourself: “I already have the answer within me.”
3. Midday Intuition Practice (5-10 min)
✅ Before making a decision, pause and ask your gut first—not your tarot deck.
✅ If you feel stuck, free-write or record a voice note instead of pulling a card.
✅ If uncertainty creeps in, say: “I trust myself to figure this out.”
Final Thought: Get Out of Your Head and Into Your Life
You don’t have to quit tarot cold turkey, but shifting from needing it to using it as a tool is key. The little boy’s message was loud and clear—
Stop waiting for a sign. Stop waiting for tarot to confirm what you already know. You are already on the right path. Trust yourself. Move forward.
If you’re ready to break free from the cycle of overthinking and external validation, check out my Red Flags Workbook, my Anxiety Management Workbook, or my Monthly Tarot Subscription—they’re all designed to help you trust yourself again.
